Wudang Arts Come to Centre County

Wudang Training

Welcome to Spring & Autumn Martial Arts

One of these most revered styles of Chinese Martial Arts, the Wudang arts offer a unique look at self-defense and the martial arts. Focusing on adhering to the opponent's force, and not overcoming, Wudang Gongfu (Kung Fu) & Taijiquan (Tai Chi) are a blend of soft-hard, slow-fast, & health-combat. With a focus on longevity, these arts can be practiced by those interested in any point of life, with any limitations, and at any age. We welcome questions and offer many class options to help reach out to everyone in the community who takes interest in the marital arts and Chinese health practices. More Information...

Wudang Daoist disciple & martial arts instructor Michael A. Vollero (Daoist name 夏崇义, Xìa Chóngyì) is a a lifelong martial artist, and one of the only non-Chinese to ever be formally recognized at Wudang Mountain as a disciple in the Dragon Gate Sect. As a fulltime instructor, these arts have been life-changing for Instructor Vollero, and he hopes to share those benefits with those willing to learn and study.

Spring & Autumn Martial Arts

New Sunday Classes

Spring & Autumn Martial Arts will be doing a schedule change over the next few weeks, allow for more people interested in studying Wudang style martial arts to attend from out of town, catch up with missed classes, and get more detailed oriented training. Students from any group or section are welcome to come to this independent study session, and we will be working hard to balance the times for everyone's schedule over the next few weeks.

New PSU Schedule

Due to the recent explosion in our Wudang Martial Arts class at Rec Hall on Penn State University campus, we are now splitting our two disciplines into two separate classes. Originally, the Wudang Taijiquan and Wudang Gongfu training students would warm-up together, then separate for their group drilling, then individually for their discipline practice, and finally regroup for cool-downs.

Now, these classes have been separated. Wudang Taijiquan will now be offered Tuesday/Thursday from 6:30-8:00PM with Zhanzhuang, loosening drills, warm-up Qigong, Taiji walking, forms, application, live training, & cool-downs. The Wudang Gongfu class will follow from 8:00-9:30PM and will begin right away with the Wudang 36 Kicking Method. Therefore, it is very important that students attending Gongfu arrive early for self-stretching while the Taijiquan group are still training.

This also was made possible so that students looking to train both disciplines have the opportunity to attend both classes. Although not recommended for those who are making Wudang style their first martial art, those with previous training are welcome to attend both groups.
